Basilian Fathers Museum - School Programs

The Basilian Fathers Museum offers educational programs based on themes appropriate for children from
Kindergarten to Grade 4.

 Canadian_Flag_Craft

 Each program includes:
• storytelling
• a scavenger hunt
• a craft activity
• a short film (for Grades 3 and 4)


Program length:
1.5-2 hours, depending on the type of activities.

 

Program fee:
$3.00 per student
Group leaders are admitted free.


Group size:
30 children maximum
One adult group leader is required for each group of 6 children.


Bookings:
Call or write to book your program at least four weeks in advance.
Museum staff will confirm your booking by letter or email.

Grade 1: The Homestead Is My Home
Grade 2: My Family and My Neighbours
Grade 3: My Community in the Past
Grade 4: The Ukrainians in East Central Alberta

Kindergarten:

The Journey that Took Me Across the Ocean
This program teaches children about the special roles played by each member of a family, and about the skills a pioneer mother had to have.

Grade 1:

The Homestead Is My Home
The children learn how pioneer families lived and how different family life is today.

Grade 2:

My Family and My Neighbours
By exploring Ukrainian customs, the children learn that families of different backgrounds keep different traditions.

Grade 3:

My Community in the Past
Through the example of a settler's community, the children learn how communities work and how people need one another to get by.

Grade 4:

The Ukrainians in East Central Alberta
By comparing the geography and natural resources of Ukraine and East Central Alberta, the children learn how humans use and interact with their environment.
